I know this is an old video, but I’m thinking of buying a 2017 VXR with only 26 hours on it. It’s for sale at my. Local Yamaha dealer. As much as I would like to buy a 2024 GP 1800 R. This would save me almost $10,000 or more. Is a VXR still a good ski in 2024?. Looking to ride on Lake Ontario mostly me but will bring along my daughter and my wife some of the time. I know it’s from Yamaha dealership, but there’s no warranty and I’m kind of nervous about that.

Thinking of getting a 310LX. Had Yamaha FX SHOs for a while, just how much worse on fuel is the Kawasaki? I’m fine with getting the same miles per tank and having 2.6 gallons bigger tank but is it worse than that?

Does the VX HO have the hull issues with the nanoexcel hull?

Does SMC hulls have any safety issues if the paint comes off like the nano hulls having chunks of hull coming out? My SMC 2024 hulls has paint peeling off and wasn’t sure if that’s going to cause issues down the road?

You cannot take a few year old ski that has a blown engine and make it make sense to put a engine in when the supercharger kills it. The naturally aspirated same story but look at investment purchase price in svho and the upkeep at least the naturally aspirated is much cheaper and maintenance is much less so when it blows you feel you got 14k out of it and you move on but with the svho you have a 20k paper weight that needs another 10k put into it and the value used by then is about 10k your stuck

I bought a Vx ho 1.9 because of the reliability and fuel mileage less stuff to break. When the engine replacement bill is the amount of ski I want it to last as long as possible. If the engine was more balanced to cost of ski say a new crate engine was 4000 instead of 9000 I might be willing to get a supercharged ski and beat it til it blows and buy a new engine. Long story short I love speed but it just cost to much.

i'm sure the choice on using car play and android auto has alot to do with paying for the rights. I would love to see it happen though. I'm 100% on board with excluding any new auto purchase without wireless connection of these apps.

Got my 2023 Kawi Ultra 310X last week. This is my 1st PWC. after a few months of comparing a GP 1800/1900 to the Ultra, I went with the Kawi based on it seems a little simpler design and a bit better in chop. I'll see this weekend

My 2022 GP hull cracked with 22 hours on it. Yamaha warranted it.. the body shop they use have painted half of it metallic black and the other half of it is solid black 😂 can’t win

My old GPR’s are still rock solid after 24 years ,! Give me SMC any day .

This only applied to the 19-21 models and for the most parr has been resolved since. I had a 21 fx that delaminated coming on and off the dock. Then got a 22 and not an ounce of the same damage. For those fighting Yamaha and the insurance, you just need to find a shop who will write up a good repair estimate and let them total it, this will continue to happen to your ski. Mine was fixed 3x before being totaled, and each time it happened faster than the previous. There’s no saving those 19-21 hulls

this video is 3 yrs old, but..i wanted to share what i personally have tested. for one, yes, i have the oem cover for my '15 yamaha waverunner fx ho cruiser. what i noticed about the cover is it's very rough to the touch when i went to pick up my ski from the dealer back then ( 2015 ), i knew going in, i was not hauling my brand new ski 7 hrs back home with this cover on my new ski. sooo..left the cover off for the haul home. once i got it home, i went to hobby lobby, purchased some soft cotton fabric, and sewed a liner to the underside of the cover, end to end, side to side. i have not trailered it yet for long distances ?, but i do know it will not scratch the paint on my ski. now..its a toss up if it will rip itself apart for a long distance haul ?, i do not know if it will or not yet ?. if you do this to your ski cover ?, i would advise to run some straps across the cover to keep it on the ski at highway speeds.

Why don't they just make them out of fibreglass ? Why would a company that has been making skis for years make something so weak ?

You cant blame anyone but Yamaha they knew the problem and should have addressed it but must have estimated the failures would cost less than the fix.

What issues do Kawasaki’s have?

Report your warranty problems to your state attorney. With multiple cases, they could launch a case.
